Underlay is chosen for the room, not taken from whatever is on the van: moisture-barrier underlays over ground floors and fresh screeds, acoustic underlays in bedrooms and apartments with neighbours below, and low-resistance underlays over underfloor heating. Three groups of factors decide the budget. The first is the floor itself: total area, the class and thickness of the laminate you choose, and the underlay it needs. The second is preparation — a new screed in good condition needs little more than priming, while an old, uneven or cracked base may need grinding and self-levelling compound before a single board can be laid. The third is geometry and detail: many small rooms, diagonal laying patterns, stairs and numerous door transitions all take more time than one open rectangle.

Removal of an existing floor, furniture moving and waste disposal add to the scope if you need them. After a free site visit we give you a written quote that separates preparation, materials and installation, so you can see precisely what each part costs and where the specification can be adjusted. The price is fixed once agreed — the figure in the quote is the figure on the invoice.
